July here in the upper midwest is usually our prime growing time. So
far
we've had too much rain, then a mini-drought, then even more rain . . .
. never seems to even out.
Most all of my plants are in bloom or ready to bloom. My first year
with the Obedient plant is a hit. I love the white (something I've not
incorporated until now) and it's blooming madly. I just planted a pink
one, so I'll be anxious to see that one, too.
The phlox paniculata, buddleia, rudbeckia (Goldstrum and Indian summer),
Heliopsis, coreopsis, blackberry lily, daylilies, monardas, asclepias
tuberosa, roses, gallardia, and hostas are all madly blooming in riots
of color. I have to laugh at the dianthus (both barbatus and chinensis)
still madly blooming along with the Ajuga (Burgundy glow). It is highly
unusual for them to be blooming now.
