Gene,
Your Johnson's Blue sounds different than mine! I certainly wouldn't
describe mine as a small shrub. Can't ever recall seeing one anywhere that
resembles a small shrub. I will try to get a good picture of mine into my
online picture album so you can see if yours and mine are anything at all
alike. I am not familiar with Lambs, don't know anyone who has ordered from
them, so have no idea regarding the odds of them having the real thing.
Very interesting!

Hello Marilyn,
Believe I have the "true" or "real" Johnson's Blue here in the garden. I
purchased it many years back, I believe, from Lambs. I have tried to locate
it
ever since from wholesalers, but gave up after receiving a mounding flopper
or
reading descriptions I knew was wrong.
I checked mine out with Peter Yeo's book and it seems to key out. Very
stiffly
upright in habit.. more like a small shrub. Large leaves, light violet-blue
flowers. Cut it back and it re-blooms. It is not completely sterile... does
seed a
bit. I have offered a few seeds in the past.
Isn't the world of cultivars wonderful?
