Re: Moving large Rhody

Thanks for all the info - we actually have a trailer that we are going
to lay it in - and it is REALLY big -like about 20' tall (it hits the
telephone cable which is at 18') and about as wide.
I have an acre of land in what was once rural suburbs of Portland OR but
is now the center of the Silicon Forest, surrounded by hi-tech industry
and walking distance from the Nike World Hq's campus (and very nice
track, which I walk on frequently).
My acre gets lots of attention from builders as the land use legislation
has now seen fit to allow 35-40 foot frontages for individual houses and
for these townhouses, they are built in groups of 3 or 4 with common
walls, each individual house frontage is 20'!
With that however comes excellent access to public transportation and
hubbys work is now a 24 minute light rail ride instead of a 45 min
freeway hassle.
So long as he works downtown we will stay in my 65 year old house.
Most likely we will stay here for the balance of our lives as we could
never find something like this within reasonable commute to the city and
we are city people, liking concerts and live music especially. Hubby is
a part time musician and there arent many gigs in the boonies -
In any case, locally I am known as "The Garden Lady", I sell off any
extra seedlings I want from my deck and encourage the new home owners
that surround me to plant native or something other than orange
marigolds and purple pansies in a straight row <g>.
I'll let you know about the results of the great Rhododendron Caper
