Rodale's Successful Organic Gardening: Landscaping with Perennials is a good
one with nice photos and good details. My favorite book is Taylor's Guide to
Perennials. Has good photos and details but also a chart showing zone, bloom
time, soil and light requirements and heights. The chart is good for planning
a new bed or quickly looking up certain requirements. Plants are also listed
by color. I've used this book more than any other I have and feel it is my
best reference for perennials.
