I need some suggestions for perennial vines, preferably evergreen and
flowering, to plant on a trellis. We put the trellis up to screen the
view of our deck, and planted clematis there. Then, I learned that the
clematis need to be pruned way back annually, so they really aren't
accomplishing what we had hoped for...

There is a new variety of jasmine, Trachelospermum jasminoides "Madison" that
is supposed to be hardy in our climate. It is evergreen with very fragrant
small white flowers in the spring (so far). I just planted it this spring and
it was very fragrant and seems to be fast growing. I did not get any
instructions on whether it likes sun or shade, so I planted it in light shade
and it seems to be doing well.
