Nancy Sweet woodruff most definitely grows in the shade - we can't keep ours under control! We pull it up by the handfuls, give big clumps to anyone who will take it, Toss tons of the stuff (which kills me when I think of the prices the local nurseries charge for these prolific ground covers!) and still it grows out of control! I don't know what our ph is, but the soil is pretty heavy clay which we amended with lots of organic matter and high quality topsoil. Jenny
