Re: Perrenial Vines

HI, Nancy, I have an akebia vine, and I really love it!! It is
growing in the almost complete shade, and has not bloomed at all...not
sure if this is because it is only in its second year, and I made the
mistake last year of cutting it all the way back...or if it is too
shady, but whatever the reason, even just the foliage is nice. It has
spread out over about ten feet of my stockade type fence, twining
around the boards, but so far, not at all invasive. I am actually
thinking of trying it on the other side of the garden, over a
chain-link fence, where I now have sweet peas, which are blooming, but
growing straight up, instead of weaving around as I had hoped they
might. This area gets a tad more sun, too, so maybe they would even
bloom over here....and when I did see it in bloom at the nursery, it
was wonderful.
