Re: Lungwort

Lungworts are very tolerant of many conditions, here in Southwestern
Michigan we have some plantings in the dry shade, deep moist shade, and
even full sun. One thing to remember is that there are many varieties of
lungworts and more appearing all the time. Mrs Moon is the old stand
bye but unfortunately is more prone to mildew then most. Some of the
newer varieties are very mildew resistent. Also like Hosta , the lighter
shades do better in the sun and in fact are more colorful.

We have over 16 types in our gardens and find them quite maintenance
free. We like to divide them in the fall but actually they are quite
forgiving and can withstand division anytime. If the foliage starts to
get ratty looking in late the summer we just pinch it off and they soon
sprout new. These are fast becoming our favorite foliage plant.
