Ann,
Which Amsonia do you have? I have both A. hubrectii and A. tabernaemontana.
I prefer the A. hubrectii. It has willowy leaves, very airy effect and
great in flower arrangements, though it does cloud the water because of a
milky substance it contains. It grows about 3 1/2 ft. - 4 ft. tall and can
flop a bit. I just gave mine a haircut yesterday and within a few weeks it
will bush out again and I will have nice foliage for the remainder of the
season. Autumn brings a brilliant yellow coloring and in front of cotinus
and next to a Yucca filamentosa 'Gold Sword' it is just stunning!
