Not too long ago I was complaining about my floppy Canturbury bells.
Since that time, several of my other plants have begun to bloom and
they too did a big flop act on me..most notably scabiosa, stokesia, and
painted daisy . I think it was Potsy who suggested that the plants
may be reaching toward the sun and I have come to believe that she is
absolutely right. My garden faces east and doesn't get much sun until
11;00 am when the sun goes past the oak trees and hits a patch of open
sky. Every single one of my floppy plants is flopping in the same
direction..toward that open patch of sky in the south. Even my day
lillies which are in another part of the yard lean toward that same
patch of open sky but fortunately, although they lean, they do not
flop. I have a feeling that unless my neighbor behind me decides to
cut down all his oak trees, I am going to have to live with this.
Pottsy, you are so wise!!
