Have you seen _The Flamboyant Garden_ by Elizabeth Sheldon?  She created a
walled garden of hot colors (not warm, mind you, but HOT).  She talks about
color combinations and has chapters on different types of plants, including
shrubs and vines.  She looks at leaves, stems, berries as well as flowers.
Lots of really red, bright yellow and hot purple-a fun book.
The book is a much expanded version of an article that appeared in Fine
Gardening.
