I have in my zone 5/6 garden two kinds of hardy fall flowering bulbs: fall
flowering crocus (Crocus speciosus) and colchicum ( called autumn crocus but
it is not). I don't remember when I planted them but certainly not in June.
I think that colchicum bulbs (expensive but worth it -flowers are
beautiful ) will show up in the garden centers in August, crocus bulbs
probably have to be ordered from the fancier mail order catalogues like
McClure and Zimmerman. Both kinds should be planted as soon as you can get
them in early fall. In the "The American Gardener' s World of Bulbs" Judy
Glattstein who gardens in Connecticut (zone 6) devotes the whole chapter to
these bulbs. If you can get this book from the library it would answer all
your questions on the subject and then some more.

No, alliums are hardy, most of them to zone 4.
