Astilbes and lilies

Hi all,

Is there a meeting ground for astilbes and lilies in terms of exposure and
moisture?
I have found a pair that go really well together. L. 'Red Velvet' and unknown
red astilbe
are both a deep blood-red color and the flower shapes and leaves make a terrific
contrast.
I would like to keep them together but am not sure it is possible. I have only
one bulb of the lily
and the astilbe is not yet large enough to divide so experimentation isn't
really an option.
Has anyone in the lower midwest grown astilbes in full sun or lilies in part
shade?
