In our climate it over-winters (or has the last two years). The top
growth gets a bit frosted and by March it looks a bit shabby but I
have cut it back to about half of its bulk - about 12" high and 18"
across. I've noticed it's just beginning to spread a little by
sending up a few new shoots but I've found it's stayed much the same
size for the last year or so.
It does have a few insignificant flowers in late summer but they are
easily cut off to keep the plant bushy.
