Re: What Containers for Transplants

For seedlings, I use clear plastic containers that I buy salads in for
lunch -- they have a hinged plastic lid. Very common item at
carry-outs. I heat a skewer on the stove to poke holes in the bottom.
I close the lids till they germinate; then I open the lids a bit each
day. Eventually I cut the lids off. Works great; costs nothing (since
I already buy the salads).

I don't go through a lot of expense when I want to pot-up my seedlings.
Just use 16 oz. styrofoam cups and punch three holes in the bottom.
Isn't
the most attractive thing, but they're cheap, sterile, and provide a
whole
lot of root run before you plant out in the garden.
