Elle,
I believe you will need a business license to get into the flower market
out at Swan Island. It is kind of like this secret society to get in there.
I went on a field trip there when I was a hort student, but we only got in
because the instructor had the ID (also the password and the secret
handshake). Ask the florist nearest to you, they will know for sure.

OK Marilyn and Diane...This is not nice of you <g>.
I have had little interest in peony for the past many years. I have one,
a red one, and it's easy to transplant cuttings to other places in the
garden.
I had **no idea** there were so many alternatives to 'elle's red peony'.
I'm glad I have a big yard but sad I have a small retirement check <g>.
Now an off topic query............
I did a wedding (body flowers and arrangements) yesterday for which I
will get a nice little bit if extra money. This all came about when I
did my daughter, Kirstins, wedding flowers last year.
I have had the good fortune of being able to do some small weddings
flowers with little more that a few classes at the local community college.
I was able to cut lots of white dutch iris out of my garden and bought 2
white stargazer lilies, a bunch of white tulips and (the real price
breaker) 2 doz white roses. Got the fill=in greens and babys breath for
free from a friend.
I'm wondering how one gets a flower market license to buy wholesale? I
ended up buying from the street vendors for much and I know they carry
2nd rate flowers. the white roses had to be
'cleaned up' petals torn back till they were just buds.
In any case - I sure wouldn't want this as a full time job, but it is
nice for word of mouth work. I suppose I'll have to get cards and a
business license etc...maybe more hassle than it is worth.
Does anyone know?
