They look somewhat like bulbs don't they-but they are rhizomes like Iris.
They will still grow if you plant them 6 inches deep but you might end up
with stunted top growth. One year I got some as gifts from a Dutch company
and they said plant them 8 inches deep- that won't work to well. 2 inches
seems to work very well with the larger plants and they can grow to have good
sized "bulbs" That you can cut up with a sharp knife in the spring if you
need more plants.
