My Garden Is On The Hit List For Eradication

The county and the State visited my garden today and they have
identified several plants which are on their hit list for removal or
control. They have listed Spartium junceum as a Class A weed which is
non-native species with a limited distribution in Washington.
Eradication of these species is mandatory in all of Washington State
including King County.

So some day soon, they will request me to remove my Spanish broom from
my yard. Spanish broom was introduced as a Class A weed in 1998.

The county does not understand why this one is a trouble maker....but on
review of my yard, they don't see any signs for new seedlings. They
stated the nearest Spanish broom is 8 miles away.

So some day soon, I will have to cut down 5 mature shrubs of Spartium
junceum in my yard.
