Re: Dutch Iris

I've read that to insure Dutch Iris bloom year after year, one needs to
plant bulbs for several years in a row.

The analogy that sticks in my mind was in Organic Gardening years ago,
about tulips. The writer said that the bulb one buys is a 100 watt bulb,
It blooms, and divides into two 50's, a few 20's, some 10's and a couple of
5's. But until each of the resulting bulbs approaches "100 watt" size, it
won't bloom. The 50's will send up leaves.

OTOH, I haven't been successful with Dutch Iris. Occasionally my iris
reticulata, the 6-8" version, return, but they are always a surprise.
