Plantings for Orienetal Poppies

Hi,
I have been putting in a fairly large perennial garden since late last summer.  The plants came through the winter in great shape.  I have a question for you.  What do you use for planting near oriental poppies to fill the void after the foliage does back?  I would prefer to stick with perennials.  I guess that I am looking for late breaking/blooming species that will allow both to have their season.
