Len,
are you looking for things you can grow yourself? As you know, whatever
flower your heart desires will be available at the florist anytime of the
year. Little else is available during that late in July at garden centers.
Most are trying to get rid of their spring stock and moving in the mums
around here. And I doubt that you'd want mums on your tables in July!
If you want things to plant now for bloom in July, well the options are
open. Luckily for you, that is the height of the oriental lily season --
THE best flower for romantic weddings! The scent alone is intoxicating.
Simple centerpieces can be made with just a couple of these blooms and
perhaps a complementary filler such as baby's breath, calamintha, feverfew,
heuchera blooms, etc. Better yet, blooms will float in a shallow bowl with
floating candles if the party is in the evening. Bulbs can still be
purchased through specialty catalogs such as The Lily Garden for planting
now. I believe that they have a web site if you do an Internet search (I
don't have the catalog handy).
