Hi Mary,
Don't know about your zone, but it is definitely a thug here in TX. It grows
wild here by the roadsides, and I have seen it graded over by a grader and
come back thicker than ever. Wouldn't let it go to seed, for sure. Have you
tried the O. missouri (sp), the one with the large yellow blooms? It too is
a spreader, but not as invasive as the pink species. The blooms are larger
than the pink, and are a beautiful clear yellow. This one I would cautiously
allow in my garden, but the pink, no way, relegate it to a nearby field or
something where it can spread to it's heart's content!
Good luck!
