I trid to grow the woodland phlox in an area that is a raised bed, on the
outskirts of a large old fir tree (about 15' from the trunk), east side of
the garden. So basically, the fringes of a woodland like area. The soil
stays cool and most most of the year, but does get enough sun on the
furthest edges (about 20-25') for a few roses. The soil is clay, always
well amended and mulched every year.
So I don't get it!
