Claire - I live in the nw suburbs of Chicago but used to live in Lincoln Park and
then near Garfield Park. Of the conservatories, I much prefer Lincoln Park, but
neither is anywhere in the league of the Chicago Botanic Garden. I haven't
visited either conservatory in years, but have been to CBG 10-12 times this
fall. It has been stunning--inside and out. The inside are the greenhouses and
the educational building displays and the various shows. The outside includes
too much to go into here, but do visit their web site (www.chicago-botanic.org).
The Morton Arboretum in Lisle (western suburbs) is also a very exciting place to
visit. Enjoy it all. And let me know if you have any specifi questions I can
help with at the CBG. I am an active volunteer and student there.
