Not having done this, I'd tend to agree with Nan, particularly since Poppy
seed needs light for germination and doesn't want to be planted deeply.
When in doubt, I'll also tend to try something both ways to hedge my bets.
But, it's also likely that someone else has actually done this and knows
what will happen...come on all you Poppy planters, speak up!
