Poppy Planting:

When I collect seeds and pods (for wreaths, etc.) from the "burned out
"poppy plants, I always sprinkle seed around in the bed at that point. I
have poppies blooming somewhere on the farm from early June until
September. I have perhaps 4 different types and they just keep coming
(like the Energizer bunny).... Of course, like Marge said, I hedge my
bets too and collect seed (some to keep and some to give away) and then
scatter that on top of the soil in early spring. The poppies are so
pervasive that I have to just rip them up in spots to make room for
other bloomers, so it must work here in zone 5. Jill
