Good Day, Y'all!
We were sitting out on our glider this afternoon watching the hummers around
our feeders in the backyard. Lovely afternoon!
Then we noticed something very strange -- we saw something we've never seen
B4!! It had the needle-nosed beak and wings of a hummingbird. But the body
was more like a very long bumble bee with wide black stripes. Whole thing
wasn't more than 1 1/2 inches long! It was having a good time minding its own
business drinking from all the phlox flowerettes!!! Never went to the hummer
feeders. My DH says it can't possibly be a hummingbird but we have no idea
what else it could be. And no, I didn't get a picture. By the time I got the
camera it was gone!!
So I said I would ask you-all. Surely some of you have seen this "stranger"
B4 and know what it is. We looked up hummingbirds but didn't see anything
like it. Soooo... I am counting on you to help us out with this mystery!!!
