I have them too, but I get the feeling that the sphinx moth is a tomato horn worm - which do I save!
Now can any one point me in the right direction to figure out what the lovely blue black wasp is in the garden! It is all over the place.

It has a tail like a lobster, fanned out on the end. Our actual hummingbirds are getting quite pushy here. I was reading on my patio (surrounded by balsam impatiens, which they love) and had one hovering 6-8 inches from my face!!! Guess I must have smelled sweet???
