RE: Hypericum patulum 'Hidcote'

-----Original Message-----
From: owner-perennials@hort.net [o*@hort.net] On Behalf
Of Gene...I have a question regarding shrubs and sub-shrubs: how does one
identify the latter? My Hypericum comes up from multiple canes, acting more

like a perennial than a shrub.but I haven't moved one in awhile and can't
remember what it looks like below ground. Thanks, Joanie Anderson

Not very sound science, but if it looks like a woodie (perennial with woody
stems) and dies back to the ground each year it is a sub shrub to me.
