     Hi,

My mum roots all sorts in jars of water on the windowsill - fuchsias,
hellibores, woody plants, you name it. I have never had any success
with this method, preferring to root things into soil, which doesn't
work for mum. Unfortunately, she gives me little jars with a plant
and a cracking root system, which I universally fail to keep alive in
compost. She lives in Scotland where its colder, the daylight is less
and the water is much softer, maybe those contribute to her technique.

I have no doubt she could root hyderangeas in water.
