Fertilizer

While I was purchasing some fertilizer for the coming season and checking out the prices etc I was thinking about the following and thought I would ask to see if I am not totally lost. Does 1 cup of water soluble Peters 20-20-20 (not dissolved yet)contain the same amount of Nitrogen as 1 cup of granular 20-20-20? The water soluble costs about 6 to 10 times as much per cup as does granular. If the answer is that each cup contains the same amount of nitrogen, what are the advantages of water soluble over granular other than ease of application and possibly quicker availabilty of nutrient to the plant? Am I wasting a lot of money, all things considered, buying water soluble.Thanks.
