From my multiple practice starts and based on the test plants which I have
had in the ground for 7 weeks now, it would be accurate to say the (First
Main Mine) will grow in the (general)
opposite direction of the first true leaf. Plus or minus say 15 degrees.
Sometimes directly opposite of the first true leaf.
A second main vine may grow in any direction!
I have discussed this concept with Rick Dickow who has grown Giant Pumpkins
for 8 years and Pete Glasier who has grown Giants for 14 years, both have
confirmed this to be the case and practice this method.
Hope this helps!
