Duncan, I file the top and sides of the seeds with an emery board very
lightly . Don't file the end where those holes are. I did this and too
much
moisture entered and rotted the seeds. Now get off those kness and get
to
planting :D .

Duncan , Yes you sure can post it on the mailing list.
I have had 100% germination of 8 seeds with this method . On 4/22 10pm
they
were filed, soaked in warm water about 15 minutes, rolled in Captan and
put
in 4 inch peat pots with Scotts seed mix starter medium. Using bottom
heat
from a heat pad and top heat from a 60 watt light bulb, my germination
box
is a plastic storage create with hinged lid. Peat pots are on a cookie
sheet and spaces 1 inch above the bottom heat. The temp. inside has been
80
- 90 degrees with lot of condensation on the inside of the box. I open
the
lid to let it escape each day. At 48 hrs post planting I carefully
peeked
at a few of them and a root had emerged from the seed and bottom heat
discontinued at that time. This morning the tops of the seeds are
pushing
through the surface of the soil . This is the fastest germination time
we
have had the 4 years of being hooked on growing the "big ones".
Does any one have an update on Tim (from Florida). Jack LaRue would like
to
hear how his seeds are progressing.
