Thanks for your post. This is indeed a hard decision. Some growers say to cut
the end off the flat vine if you have an alternative vine. The plant's
energies go to the other vine and the problem is solved.
Others say that if it's not too bad, it can still produce. Still, others say
that it's best to pollinate a fruit just before the place where the vine goes
flat. Good chance at a whopper.
I just came in from the garden and the vine is about 12-14 ft long, and only
three inches wide at the tip, which is the widest point. I guess that's not
too severe, although it looks Jurassic.
I am going to study this plant for a while and see what happens. I'll make my
decisions about whether or not to do a Lorena Bobbit thing and whack it off
and bury it when the time is right.
Of course, one cannot grow AGs without a few curve balls and a few flats!

BTW, your 599s are looking great. Tall leaves and dark green vines. I am
tickled so far.
