If you could raise the pumpkin off the ground and
suspend it somehow, it would increase the heat
transfer at the bottom of the pumpkin.  I'm not sure
how you could do that and what advantage you would
gain.

My theory suggests you want to minimize heat transfer.
 The ground is a good temperature moderator.  Keep
your pumpkins well grounded.
