Sapsuckers, woodpeckers, etc, do not attack a healthy tree. they are
drilling for bugs & grubs already infesting the bark & interior. the answer
is to attack &^ destroy the parasites, & the woodpeckers, etc will leave the
tree alone if ther are no active, live parasites. Otherewise, I agree with
Linda. If you can't cure the problem by getting rid of the parasites, the
tree will die, anyway.
