I still do some foliar feeding but I am careful about it. (Too much water or
too much fertilizer and pop goes the pumpkin.) This next year I plan to add
soluble fertilizer to all the water that I use on my plants. I will therefore
be dealing with very dilute mixtures. I plan to start out early with my soil
high in nutrients. My plan will be to attempt to replace the nutrients
essentially as they are used or washed out of the soil. The fact that some of
the fertilizer will get on the leaves of my plants will be coincidental to the
fact that I use overhead watering. I guess you could say that I am a "root
man" rather than a "leaf man."
