RE: growing up tip

Hi All.........

FWIW, here's another data point on this topic. I had two side vine tip
blowouts several weeks ago and the main on my best plant went just last
week. All three looked like they had been stepped on by something (perhaps,
in my case, that's just what happened?). Anyway, it's been 90+ degrees and
no rain here since mid May. All vines are on a timed drip with limited
timed overhead watering during the heat of the day so I don't think it's the
amount of water.

	Tom,

In some cases the ends of the vine grow way up in the air. It's
possible
that at some point gravity wins and they crash down. Although I had
one
that was way up there and the tip came off and what was left of the
vine was
still sticking way up - the part that came off wasn't that heavy so
I don't
think it was gravity. I also had one pretty spectacular blowout on
a big
main vine that was flat on the ground. I believe it's because they
are
growing too fast. ?? Not real sure.

My husband says I've got these things so juiced up they think
they're oak
trees, growing up in the air like that. All mine are doing it this
year.
Tonight I came home and one big burly secondary was higher than my
waist.
Unfortunately I looked at it crooked (ok, ok, maybe I accidentally
bumped
it) and it went over, splitting the vine.

My plants are really charged up this year, AND we've had a lot of
rain. I
think the folks who have suggested rain as the culprit may be right
on
	target.
