Re: Central Wisconsin update/inquiry

Marc,

I don't know much about your questions, but this morning I also
had my first AG female open! Seven lobes! I self-pollinated it
with the only available male. I hope this works!

I also spread some ice on the ground around the open flower.
Not sure if I need this... Idaho nights are usually in the 50's this
time of year.

Hi List,

The weather's been cooperating and the pumpkin is too. I just pollinated my
first AG baby pumpkin this morning at 8am!!!!!! I used 3 male flowers(I
hope
I didn't over do it)because I wanted to be sure that I get a "correct"
pollination. I closed the flower tip with a little rubber band. How long do
I have to leave it on there, and does it hurt it to leave it on there too
long?

One thing I did notice was that inside the female flower, I had 8 "lobes"?
Is that what they are called? I read on the list about fellow growers
usually having 4? Does anyone know what the significance of this is?
