Long gourds have a specific odor that repels almost all bugs..In
fact over 3 years I have only had to spray my plants twice ..both times
last year do to aphids during the drought and heat!!...As you prune the
plant you can small it..kinda smells like stink bug juice...pretty
offensive...

PS... I have toyed with the idea of companion planting a few in the
patch along with a pumpkin and let the gourd grow all over...maybe it
would repel the cuc and the borers?? Just athought....the gourd has
asingle root system and would not "rob" to much...
