perhaps you could consider keeping a hive for pollination, its not a
very expensive proposition and I have found beekeeping to be just as
fascinating as pumpkin growing .I had three hives within 30 feet of my
pumpkins last season, and  pollination was still dreadful, but that's
more to do with my pumpkin growing skills at the time than the amount of
bees around. Please consider the idea as i am sure that anyone
interested in any aspect of gardening could get much pleasure from
keeping bees (at a lot less effort than pumpkin growing)
