Re: GPC does not promote this sport


It's a matter of philosophy not personality. I have never met a finer 
group of people myself. I like your reasoning on the promotion being 
grower motivated, and it can certainly work like that, small groups of 
growers getting together, competing with their pumpkins. It was that 
larger vision of Waterman's that was so inticing to me. I just saw that 
it need a different approach, a more encompassing one. He was working to 
make this an international event. I don't think that could happen on its 
own, through grower promotion only. It would take some real 
organizational skill. I don't care for term trashing. If that is what it 
seems please excuse me. It is just that when you begin to see the petty 
politics that keep this sport of pumpkin growing from being all that it 
can, you just get angry. And please understand these are my personal 
thoughts only. We both are most likely right on some issues and wrong on 
others. I think we need to have open discussions like this to help clear 
up each other's understanding of things. Your posts have been very 
helpful that way. I'm going to read them again.
