I have a pumpkin(Holland 897) that is 25 ft long, has 3 pumpkins set n
it right now, but the oddity is that is is a lesbian plant. I have only
females on it, and all the males never quite reach maturity.. It is
strangest thing.. I am glad I have the Andersen 815 to get pollen from..
These two plants are growing from the same hil, (2 ft apart from each
other), and the 815 is loaded with both males and females, while the 897
is a female only plant.. Any comments?
Oh yeah, I have one more problem to address.... I found a small gash
onthe belly side of my biggest pumpkin , about 3 inches long.. It doesnt
go through to the cavity, but it is a crack or possibly a split of some
type.. How would the big hitters and little hitters in this group handle
this problem? I soaked a cloth with daconil, and covered the spot.. I
will remove the cloth in a few days.. I just do not want any hungry bugs
smelling that juice..
