Hermaphrodite flower

This AM I broke off a sturdy male to pollinate a fresh female. When I
took off the pedals I found a short pistol with about half of the usual
number of rows of pollen on it, and under that two female lobes and what
looked like two more lobes that were white, like the underside of normal
lobes. The base of the blossom was a half globe shape, as if the flower
went half way to being a female.
How common is this?
Will it spread?
Are my children safe?

I wonder if this would have self-pollinated, and what the off-spring
would have been, if any.

Isn't this fascinating stuff?
