Late Start

This is my first year growing AGs and I must have had a slow start. My
first pollination was about two weeks ago and it has stopped growing at
10". My next pollination did not occur until about 4 days ago. From
looking at the buds on my three plants, it looks like I will be
pollinating once every second or third day for the next two weeks.
Now, I know that plodding wins the race but I think that I'm a little
far behind to provide any competition for anyone.
What are my chances of producing anything decent at this stage? I still
hear people talk about starting a new plant... are they being serious?
What I would really love to hear are any stories about late-blooming
giants or underdog gourds that triumphed. I need some encouragement.
