D#mn it! I broke the tip on the main vine
I was out in the garden last evening with the wife,
decided to root the vine tips on the pumpkin plant, and
applied to heavy of a hand to the tip of the main (as most
of you may know, too heavy is only slightly beyond just
enough). I broke it, felt very remorsefull, swore some, and
stomped back to the house to watch the rest of the Lakers/
Sixers game.
This AM I went back to survey the damage and assess my
options. It may not be as bad as I first thought. I have a
very young secondary right where the break was, so I cut
off the damaged vine. I have a female flower(should open in
the next couple of days) on the outside of the bend, well
positioned for non interference with the vine, better than
it was if the primary had still been there. The flower is
about 11 feet out on the vine.
I'm hoping someone can advise me on this. Will the "new"
primary take over?
