Hello,
Rookie here (first message), and I was wondering if anyone tried growing
the giant pumpkin in an area smaller than 2,500sq ft.
I have been fascinated with the process of growing the giant pumpkin,
and I want to get involved, but I live in the city and am stuck with the
limitation of a small backyard.
My entire back yard is 3,000 sq ft, and I was planning on allocating max
500sq ft to the plant. My intention is not to grow a killer pumpkin,
but one that is in the ballpark of about 80-150lbs. in my first year.
These are my questions:
1. Is it possible given my size limitation?
2. Will the vines overrun the rest of my vegetable garden? (and
backyard?)
3. Is it better to have a square or a rectangular area?
There is still snow on the ground here, but I wanted to plan my garden
soon, and any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone could share
their experiences with growing in a small area, that would be great!
Thanks,
Rick Lee
