Re: holes in the ground


David,
   There is a good chance that your missing pumpkin and corn seed is the work
of crows. They are smart and a group of them can do alot of damage. I lost a
couple acres to crows 2 years ago. There used to be a product called Crow
Chex (sp.?) that would discourage crows but I think it was taken off the
market. Scare crows, owls and the scarey eye ballons actually do work but you
need alot of them....maybe 2 per acre and you need to move them around every
few days. The crows will lose interest in the seeds when they have fully
sprouted....they lose the flavor they like. If you are fully sprouted, it is
likely that you have received most of the damage that is going to happen. Any
human activity will discourage the crows also. I am assuming that shooting
the crows is not acceptable to you.
