GiantPumpkins email list
Hi.
This is to inform you that a new pumpkin email list has come online. We
hope you will consider joining it. The list is called GiantPumpkins. It can
be accessed at http://www.onelist.com/community/GiantPumpkins. We will be
sending formal invitations to join soon.
GiantPumpkins is NOT intended to supplant Pumpkins@Mallorn.com. We want to
complement the Mallorn list while providing some additional functionality.
The current list is an integral part of the pumpkin community and we want
that to continue.
However, that list has been set up to discuss the technical issues of
raising giant pumpkins. The new list will also address some of the more
esoteric aspects of the hobby. These aspects include information of a more
personal nature than what would be appropriate on the Mallorn list. Think
of GiantPumpkins as a secondary vine -- not the center of the plant but
important to its growth, just the same.
So, what should you expect from GiantPumpkins? We have an online calendar
to which all members may add events. For instance, you will be able to see
when and where local weighoffs will be held. We also have a opinion
surveying function. We'll be able to poll members about various subjects,
from serious to silly.
Pumpkineers who crave only technical information -- genetics, pest control,
fertilization requirements, and such -- should only subscribe to
Pumpkins@Mallorn. Those who also want to know the personal goings-on of
other growers should subscribe to GiantPumpkins@onelist.com. Those who want
the full range of pumpkindom info should belong to both.
