Mark from what I have experienced, what you have is good! That means the pumpkin is growing faster than the skin will allow. What I do is keep a coffee cup with a little bleach (table spoon) and a tooth brush handy. I take the tooth brush and gently clean those areas and then wipe them dry with a wash cloth. I doesn't hurt any to put a little captan on them.

I just read what I wrote and I forgot to tell you a table spoon of bleach with a cup of water in a coffee mug works wonders.
